Most all professional artists paint in a series – which is a group of paintings developed around a common theme. In this workshop you’ll learn how to create an easy, colorful series of abstract paintings that have a unified look and feel. We’ll talk about design, color and themes that will get you started on a modern, beautiful and colorful series of work. If you need to find more consistency in your abstract painting, then this is the workshop for you!

Supply List for Students: Paint: Your usual acrylic paint. Professional quality paints are best and provide the most color pigment. Bring your typical color selection of paints-the following are suggestions only: Warm Yellow (Hansa Deep, Cadmium Yellow Deep, Indian Yellow), Cool Yellow (Hansa Light, Cadmium Yellow Light), Warm Red (Cadmium Red Medium), Cool Red (Quinacridone Magenta, Alizarin Crimson), Warm Blue (Ultramarine), Cool Blue (Cerulean, Phthalo), White (Titanium), Black (Mars or Ivory). Brushes: The brushes you typically use, plus you will need (2-3) 2” brush or larger and preferably a 3” brush, Water containers, A palette for paints (I use wax paper taped to the table), Artist’s tape, Materials for note taking, Painting Surfaces: (3) canvases 18x24 minimum size – 24x36 maximum size. A substitute for canvases is 22x30 gessoed 300 lb watercolor paper, gessoed board or canvas painting panels. (6) painting surfaces which could be matboard, wood panels, canvas cloth, canvas panels, watercolor paper, etc. (If using surfaces other than canvas, make sure they are coated with gesso).
