This all day workshop will loosen up the acrylic artist to explore a geometric approach to develop abstract compositions. The use of color, shape, line and texture along with essential rules of composition will be explored by students on paper and canvas surfaces. Joe will supply some tips and techniques to develop your work in a more analytical, straight edge format that will capture the eyes interest and stimulate your creative spirit. Joe will also demo his abstract compositional techniques and concepts that will jump start your own personal journey in Geometric Abstractions. Individual instruction will be received by all attending students. This class is designed to “tap into” the intuitive you in the process yet allow you to confidently develop a clean, sharp and colorful result. You will leave with a piece ready to frame once you are finished. 

Supplies provided in kit: 

A small sample of acrylic paint with 6 basic colors offered 

A set of Creative Inspiration Dura-Handle Short Brushes 3 Flats, 1 round

A steel ruler to use to create your linear elements

A set of paint markers for line work will be shared with each person getting a black marker in their kit. 

Supplies you need to bring:

Brushes:  #30 Mural White Nylon Flat Brush – for Varnishing 

Paper – At least 2 full sheets of 140lb CP watercolor paper (Fabriano or Arches) 

Canvas –18” x 24”, 24” x 30” ¾” deep canvas – bring a 2 pack 

Disposable Palette paper or container- Jerry’s Soho Palette Pad - 9”x12”  

Required - 3m Blue Painters Tape -   1” wide for work on paper
