In this intensive 6 hour workshop, we will explore ways to create color fields and relationships between colors that are dramatic. Utilizing various tools and techniques, we will explore the effects we can achieve with cold wax medium and various opaque and translucent colors. We will use Arches Oil Paper and/or Ampersand Gessobord panels to create a series of work, using cold wax medium, oil paint, pigment sticks, and a variety of implements. We will build up layers of color, and think "outside the box" as to how to create complex color surfaces. Once we have become comfortable with the basics, we will apply these techniques to a painting concept, and discuss form, shape, and line, with an emphasis on a series of work.
