V2042 WORKSHOP SUPPLY LIST >

Here is a list of recommended supplies, if you feel the need for one.

ACRYLICS:

All the Matisse/Derivan colors are excellent along with many others. If you are just getting started in acrylics, a slightly limited palette is a good idea. Here are some suggestions:

Warm Blue (Phthalo Blue)

Cool Blue (Ultramarine Blue)

Warm Red (Naphthol Scarlet)

Cool Red (Brilliant Alizarine)

Warm Yellow (Yellow Deep)

Cool Yellow (Yellow Light Hansa)

Burnt Sienna

Raw Umber

Titanium White

Medium: Golden GAC 100 (Best) or Liquitex Gloss Medium and Varnish (Very Good), or Jerry’s Acrylic Medium and Varnish (Good Enough!)

OILS:

All the Charvin and Lukas 1862 colors are excellent, along with many others. If you are just getting started in oils, a slightly limited palette is a good idea. Here are some guidelines:

Warm Blue (Phthalo Cyan)

Cool Blue (Ultramarine Blue Deep)

Warm Red (French Red Light)

Cool Red (Carmine Lake)

Warm Yellow (Naples Yellow)

Cool Yellow (Intense LemonYellow)

Titanium White ALKYD

Raw Umber

Red Oxide

OPTIONAL:

Purple (French Violet)

Green (Imperial Green)

Naples Yellow

Ivory Black

MEDIUM: Charvin Quick Dry Painting Medium

or Winsor Newton Liquin-- 250 ml

BRUSHES:

Any normal assortment of bristle brushes will do, but you must have at least one large “Chip Brush”-- 2” wide or more.   My favorites are Filbert bristle brushes made by the Silver Brush Company.

For signing my paintings, I always use a Winsor Newton Series 7-- size 1 or 2.

OTHER:

It would be ideal have an easel or a table-top easel on hand,  plus a bucket or two for cleaning, and a couple rags.
